Belvoir Rail has stepped in to support the newly reconstructed Langar cum Barnstone Community Hall in Nottinghamshire, ensuring it has access to the internet.
Changes in regulations affecting its previous telecommunications setup had left the hall disconnected from the digital world, posing a significant challenge for the local community.
Fortunately, with Belvoir Rail's assistance, this obstacle has been overcome. Located near Belvoir Rail's Head Office, the community hall serves as a vital focal point for community engagement in the area. However, without internet connectivity, it was unable to fully meet the needs of its users, which include various groups and activities such as art and dance classes, community events, and even the local post office, which relies on internet access for its operations.
Recognising the hall's importance to the community, Belvoir Rail have match funded and installed a Starlink System. This will provide the much-needed connectivity to the hall, enabling its diverse range of users to fully utilise the space.
Starlink is a satellite-based internet system that delivers high-speed access to underserved areas, using thousands of small satellites orbiting the Earth to transmit signals to ground users.
James Brown, Managing Director of Belvoir Rail, emphasised the company's commitment to supporting local communities, saying, "We're delighted to be able to contribute to the well-being of the Langar Cum Barnstone community. Access to the internet is essential in today's world, and we're pleased to play a part in ensuring that the community hall can serve its members effectively."
A statement from the Parish Council said "On behalf of Langar cum Barnstone Parish Council, Jeff Fry wishes to express profound gratitude to Belvoir Rail Ltd, for their match-funding contribution. This crucial support has enabled us to equip our new community hall with a cutting-edge Starlink system, providing high-speed internet access to everyone who uses our facilities. This initiative not only enhances our community services but also bridges the digital divide, ensuring that our community remains connected and vibrant. Thank you, Belvoir Rail Ltd".
Our contribution is one of the practical ways in which organisations can support their local communities, addressing real needs and making a real difference in people's lives. With internet access now secured, Langar cum Barnstone Community Hall can continue to fulfil its vital role as a central hub for community engagement and connection.
