Belvoir Rail proudly exhibited at Rail Live on June 19 and 20 at the Long Marston Innovation Centre. As the biggest outdoor rail exhibition in the UK, Rail Live 2024 was a bustling event, attracting thousands of attendees from across the rail industry.
The unique setting of this exhibition, with its live displays in an immersive and real rail environment, provided an ideal platform to discover new technologies and the latest innovations.
Innovative Projects Unveiled
We were thrilled to be joined on the stand by our partners from WMG - University of Warwick, with whom we are developing advanced quadruped robots and augmented reality (AR) headsets and tools. The robots, designed for rail and rolling stock inspection, are poised to revolutionise maintenance tasks. Capable of operating inside and outside trains, as well as on the tracks, they assist with maintenance, fault detection, and minimising failures. The AR technology showcased aims to transform training and maintenance tasks, offering an exciting glimpse into the future of rail operations.
Inspiring Young Engineers
A real highlight of the event was hosting groups of primary school children on the stand in partnership with Primary Engineer, an initiative aimed at engaging young people with engineering. We enjoyed giving them a practical lesson about our technology and letting them operate the robots themselves.
Positive Reception
One of our favourite quotes from visitors to the stand was, "You're the coolest thing at the show!" This feedback is a testament to the hard work and innovation our team has put into developing the quadruped technologies for use in rail environments.
Rail Live 2024 was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our innovations, connect with industry professionals, and inspire the next generation of engineers. The sun shone brightly over the glorious two-day event, and there was plenty of ice cream to enjoy.
"Rail Live has been absolutely amazing" said Sonja Greschner, Communications Manager at Belvoir Rail. "With a fantastic turnout and such high interest in the quadruped and AR technology, the event has been a huge success for us."
We look forward to continuing our journey of innovation and excellence in the rail industry. Thank you to everyone who visited our stand and contributed to making this event a memorable success.
