As we bid farewell to 2023, the Belvoir Rail team is proudly looking back at the incredible journey we've had over the past twelve months. Spoiler alert: it was undeniably awesome!
We're relishing the moments that made this year truly remarkable, packed with events, achievements and celebrations.
First off, in the world of certifications, we were delighted to announce our success in achieving ISO14001 for Environmental Management Systems and securing recertification for ISO9001 for Quality Management. These accomplishments really highlight how committed we are to doing things with excellence and top-notch quality. Take a bow, Belvoir Rail.
From industry forums to local celebrations, 2023 was a year of great events for Belvoir Rail. We had the opportunity to connect, share insights, and be a part of some meaningful gatherings in the rail community. Our presence at industry events has been nothing short of stellar. We weren't just attendees; we were active participants and sponsoring partners at key events like the Rail Forum Vehicle Maintenance event in Crewe and the Rail Forum Fleet Performance in Derby, where our Managing Director, James even took centre stage alongside Porterbrook to talk about our experience in obsolescence solutions.
As we believe in showcasing our expertise, in July we proudly exhibited at the Rolling Stock Networking Trade show in Derby. Following a hugely successful day, we have already booked our spot for 2024.
In the digital realm, we freshened things up with a new website. Recognising the importance of making a lasting impression in the virtual world, we took strides to ensure our online presence reflects the innovation and excellence that define Belvoir Rail. And…because, you know, it's good to look snazzy online too!
James also graced the pages of the RSSB magazine, sharing insights on the unique strengths of SMEs in the rail industry. We may be small, but we're a force to be reckoned with. He shed light on how our unique problem solving capabilities and dedication to innovation has made us a formidable force in the rail industry.
This year marked a significant milestone for Belvoir Rail – our 15th Birthday! We're officially a teenager in the rail world. And what's a birthday without cake? We celebrated in style, indulging in some well-deserved treats to mark the occasion and symbolise our journey and growth over the past decade and a half.
And the icing on the cake? We had our moment in the spotlight at the Modern Railways Innovation Awards in London, where we, alongside Northern Trains and Modux, won the coveted award for Engineering and Safety. This was for our support in a pioneering in-service infrastructure monitoring trial. Now that's a celebration worth remembering! It was a proud moment for Belvoir Rail, and we're still doing a little happy dance about it.
Community spirit is at our core and we believe in giving back. We successfully refurbished a local war memorial, a project that received an extra touch of nostalgia with a fly-past by the Lancaster Bomber from the Battle of Britain Flight, paying tribute to the historic significance of the airfield.
Our colleague Fitzroy also flexed his muscles for a good cause, doing 100 push-ups a day throughout November to raise funds for Cancer Research.
Recognising that a supportive workplace is the heart of any successful team, we proudly signed the Railway Mental Health Charter and took significant strides in creating a workplace that prioritises well-being. We trained Mental Health First Aiders and rolled out courses for our team, with more initiatives on the horizon. We actively participated in Rail Safety Week and are already looking ahead to how we can get more involved in 2024.
Finally, we joined the Rail Safe Friendly Programme, supporting rail safety education in schools across the UK, something we are really proud to be involved in.
Working with operators and customers across the UK, we've delivered products and services that have made a real difference to rolling stock performance. It's not just a job; it's our passion. As we wave goodbye to 2023, we're gearing up for an even better 2024. Product developments, more exciting projects, and maybe a few surprises up our sleeves.
