Managing Director of Belvoir Rail, James Brown, presented alongside Neil Anderson, Fleet Engineer from Porterbrook, at the recent Rail Forum Fleet Performance Event in Derby.
Over 150 people from various sectors of the rail industry heard about the importance of delivering on-time passenger services and the critical role of the supply chain in driving strong fleet performance.
Neil highlighted how collaboration swiftly provided a solution to an issue with a driver seat pedestal. James explained that Belvoir Rail created an approved welding procedure and overhaul specification to address the issue and discussed the risks of degradation, failure and obsolescence as rolling stock ages. James emphasised that by collaborating with the supply chain, rolling stock operators and owners can significantly extend the life and performance of fleet assets.
James went on to explain that SMEs like Belvoir Rail can contribute to better fleet performance through value added activities, agility, responsiveness and specialist in house expertise - as well as emphasising how much can be achieved by adopting a partnership approach across the sector.
